December 8, 2003.
From the bottom of my heart, I feel true anguish. True sorrow.
True affliction and hurt. It's that day again, we've all been rather dreading, and now that it's arrived, a familiar emptiness
burrows back into my heart. That raw gut feeling that you know something isn't right...and it isn't. Twenty three years ago,
a beautiful life was stolen from us, in a senseless act of blind hatred and dillusion. We lost one of the most dynamic, and
tender-hearted souls there ever was - a man who sought out to find peace, and lost his life in conquest. We lost a lover.
We lost a friend. We lost a catalyst in music history, an activist, a songwriter. We lost a human being. Twenty three years
ago, we lost all of these things and more. On this day, I feel overwhelmed by grief, but comforted when I reflect upon his
life. John may have left this world, but also, left us a legacy. He brought joy into our lives with his music, and compassion
in our hearts with activism. Today, I hope you take a special moment in your day to reflect on this trully great man.
